     Households and tofu industry in Lembang no longer depend on firewood from the surrounding forests. It’s been replaced by organic waste that is easily available since most people are famers. Intensive farming adds another strain to the environment. Before famers learned to process farm and household waste into a source of renewable energy there was no proper waste management system. Stable manure and organic waste from households had a bad effect on the health of the people and on the environment since manure releases methane, one of the most important greenhouse gases.
